Brief HISTORICAL ROUND-UP
The Spitz German descend of the dogs of peat (Torfhunde) of the Canis familiaris palustris Rütimeyer and of the Spitz of lacustrine houses (Pfahlbau-Spitze); they are the race of dogs more ancient of Central Europe.
Of them they have developed many other races.
In the countries of speech no German, the Toy Spitz (Zwergspitz) are known like Pomerania.
GENERAL appearance
The Spitz are charming by his beautiful fur, formed by an abundant subpelo.
The peel erizado covers the body so that the external layer separates of the body; especially striking are the abundant necklace of peel that it surrounds the collar and the breast (mane),as well as the tail tupida, spent audaciously on the back.
The head of fox with eyes vivaces, the small pointy ears and very placed give to the Spitz his characteristic blatant appearance.
IMPORTANT proportions
The relation among the height to the cross and the longitude of the body is of 1:1.
The relation among the longitude of the snout and the one of the skull is of roughly 2:4.
Behaviour And CHARACTER
The Toy Spitz / Pomerania is always attentive, vivaz and extraordinarily become attached to his owner.
It is very enseñable and easy to educate.
His merry and fond character turn the ideal dog of company and of family, as well as dog of surveillance for the house and the apartment.
It is not fearful neither aggressive.
His indifference in front of the meteorological conditions, his robustness and longevity are remarkable.
Head
CRANIAL region:
Head of average size, view from up looks wider in the backside and tightens in shape of coins to the tip of the nose.
Depression naso-frontal (stop): Moderated to marked, never brusque.
FACIAL region:
Truffle:
The truffle is round, small and of pure black colour; in the dogs Spitz brown is of dark brown colour.
Snout:
No too long, in harmonious proportion with the skull (roughly 2:4).
Lips:
The lips are not exaggerated; they adjust to the jaws without forming folds in the commissures. They are entirely black. In the Spitz brown, the lips are of dark brown colour.
Jaws/Teeth:
The jaws are usually developed and present a bitten of tijera complete with 42 teeth, in accordance with the formula dentaria of the dog.
The incisive upper superimpose closely to the inferior and fit firmly among himself.
The fault of some premolar is tolerated in the Toy Spitz/Pomerania. The bitten in pinza is permissible.
Cheeks:
The cheeks are softly rounded, without projecting.
Eyes:
Of average size, of form almendrada, slightly oblicuos and dark. The lids are black. In the Spitz brown, the brinks palpebrales are brown dark.
Ears:
Small, triangular, pointy, inserted tall and next among himself; they spend always heaved and firm in the tip.
Collar:
Of half longitude, very settled on the shoulders, slightly arched, without papada and covered of a dense and abundant fur that forms a big necklace (ruff).
Body
Upper line: it melts in a soft curve with the short and straight back.
Cruz: Alta and that descends imperceptibly to backwards.
Back: The shortest possible, straight and firm.
Loin: Short, width and strong.
Grupa: Wide and short, no fall.
Breast: Deep, very arched; the antepecho (bow of the sternum) very developed.
Inferior line and belly: The breast extends the further back possible; the belly only slightly collected (abdominoplastia light).
Tail
Inserted in tall and of half longitude.
Achieving upwards and going to forward on the back, directly from the root.
It leans firmly on the back and is covered by a peel very tupido.
It tolerates a small curl in the tip.
Members
Fourth FORWARDS
General appearance: Recta, quite wide and very developed, with good osseous resistance.
Shoulders: Very musculados and firmly joined to the thorax.
Omóplatos: Long and very oblicuos.
Arm: Of longitude roughly the same to the one of the omóplato, forming an angle of 90° with him.
Elbows: Firm, very adjusted to the thorax, without diverting neither inwards neither to outside.
Forearm: Of half longitude in relation with the body, strong, rectum and entirely covered of peel (very emplumado).
Metacarpus (Pastern): Strong, of half longitude and slightly oblicuo (roughly 20° from the vertical).
Anterior feet: So small as it was possible, round and enclosed, with toes very arched, the called “legs of cat”.
The colour of the nails and the pads is the darkest possible.
Fourth BACKSIDES
General appearance:
Very musculosos and abundantly covered of peel until the corvejones.
Seen from backwards, the back members are straight and parallel.
Thigh and leg:
Of roughly the same longitude.
Knee (Stifle):
Strong, with an angulación moderate; it does not divert neither to inside neither to out in movement.
Corvejón (Hock):
Of half longitude, very strong and perpendicular to the soil.
Back feet:
So small as it was possible, round and enclosed, with toes very arched, the called “legs of cat”.
The colour of the nails and the pads is the darkest possible.
It leaves / MOVEMENT
The Spitz German / Pomerania moves straight to forward with good impulse, fluidity and elasticity.
Skin
The skin covers the body firmly, without folds neither crease.
Coat (PEEL)
The Spitz German / Pomerania has double fur:
A short internal layer, dense and algodonosa, and a long external layer, straight and separate of the body.
The head, the ears, the anterior part of the extremities and the feet are covered of peel short and dense (aterciopelado).
The rest of the body presents a long fur, abundant and denser around the collar and the shoulders, forming an abundant mane (necklace).
The backside of the leading legs is very provista of fringes; the rear legs, abundantly covered until the corvejones.
The tail is very tupida and spends on the back.
The fur does not have to look to the of a dog recortado or modelling artificially.
Colour
Spitz / Pomerania Of German type:
Target, black, brown, orange, grey shaded (grey-wolf) and other colours.
Spitz White:
The fur has to be white pure.
It tolerates a slight yellowish nuance, that often appears especially in the ears.
Spitz Black:
It has to have subpelo and black skin.
The colour of the fur has to be black brilliant, without white marks neither of other colours.
Spitz Brown:
It has to be uniformly brown dark.
Spitz Orange:
It has to be of a uniform colour inside the half range of the orange.
It allows a light explanation of the colour in the breast, the tail and the “trousers”.
Spitz Grey shaded (grey-wolf):
Grey colour plateado with black tips in the peel.
The snout and the ears are dark, the eyes are surrounded by a drawing of type “show” (spectacles) clearly clear-cut.
A fine line, dark, bent, extends from the external corner of the eye until the base of the ear, with clear ring around the eyes and the snout.
The necklace and the antepecho are clearer.
The anterior and back legs are of a grey plateado without black marks underneath of the elbows or corvejones.
The tip of the tail and the inferior part of the “trousers” are of grey colour clear silver.
Spitz Of other colours:
The term “other colours” includes: cream, cream-sabre, orange-sabre, black and fire (black and tan),and particolor.
The copies particolor have to have the white colour like main base.
The stains of colour (black, brown, grey, oranges or cream-sabre) have to be distributed uniformly especially the body.
Size And WEIGHT
Height to the cross:
Toy Spitz / Pomerania German: 21 cm ± 3 cm.
The weight has to correspond always to the size.
Faults
Any deviation of the points mentioned previously considers fault.
The gravity of the fault has to evaluate according to his degree and his influence on the health and the welfare of the dog.
GRAVE faults
• Defects in the construction.
• Head too flat.
• Head of type “apple”.
• Nose, lids or lips of colour flesh.
• Faults of dentition, incisive absentee.
• Eyes too big or too brilliant.
• Eyes saltones.
• In the Spitz of grey colour (grey-wolf),absence of the characteristic facial drawing.
• Defects of movement.
Lacking DESCALIFICADORAS
• Aggressive dogs or excessively shy.
• Any dog that show physical alterations or of evident behaviour.
• Fontanela Open.
• Upper prognathism, inferior or bitten crusade.
• Ectropión Or entropión.
• Ears no entirely heaved.
• Marks or clear-cut white stains in all the Spitz of colour no white.
• Any no mentioned colour in the section “Dye”.
Notes (N.B.)
The males have to have two testicles of normal appearance entirely descended in the scrotum.
Only they have to breed functional dogs and clinically healthy, with typical forming of the race.
